5. Colour study
An in depth section on colour study is crucial to assist students in choosing the best colour for each individual client. Understanding the Fitzpatrick scale to best determine the client’s undertones and which modifiers to use for each Fitzpatrick type.
6. Blades Types and Their Uses
I don’t need to tell you how important it is to understand the different blade types; their purposes on which skin types. It almost goes without saying, knowing this information is a must, and yet, many courses do not cover this very important element. Make sure the training you choose does.
7. Anaesthetics
Anaesthetics should be taken seriously in order to avoid any mishaps!
Students need to know the following:
Overview
Indications
Dosage Guidelines and Administrative Techniques
Mechanism of Action
Absorption
Adverse Effects
Allergic Reactions
8. Different Techniques Available
Even though 3D and 6D eyebrows look very similar, there is one important difference: The thickness of the blade. Blades used for 6D are smaller/thinner in diameter to the blades used for the 3D technique, therefore creating a thinner ‘cut/stroke’ in the skin and ultimately resulting in an ultra-thin crisp and clean stroke. Then there is the oh-so-popular ombre/shading and powder technique. Does your training provide this information?
Everyone one is different and will have different needs and ways of learning but these 12 microblading subjects are non-negotiable. These are the basics every good microblading technician must know. Admittedly, it’s hard to get everything you need to know in one training, and learning comes in levels, so what you need to know as a beginner is different than what you’ll need to know as an advanced technician, which is why ongoing education is a must.
Try not to let price be your guide. If you go with the $1,500 course because it’s more affordable, but afterwards you still don’t have answers to your questions and you’re left with not enough confidence to do anyone, or worse, you do, it will not have been a good deal after all. It will always end up costing you more on the back end. It will cost you in time and mistakes, which equals to loss of clients and loss of income.
I have a saying, “It’s expensive to be poor,” meaning, it always costs more in the long run to pay less in the short run.
If you can’t afford the right course at the moment, you might be better off waiting, borrowing or making payments than to take a lesser costing course.
Then again, don’t automatically assume the expensive course is a good course just because it’s expensive. Do your research. Try to speak to people who’ve done the course, it’s easy now with social media. If you want to be sure you’ll get the absolute best training without the guesswork, come to Vogue Brows in South Africa. We’ll make sure you leave with all the knowledge you need to be a confident and skilled microblading technician.
I’d like to add a note here; When choosing a trainer/training, inquire into what line of pigments they recommend and endorse and how much training do they provide for this line of pigments. Is this a good line of colors for you? Look into it. The line of pigments you start out with will have everything to do with the amount of success you will have with the eyebrows you create and is an important part of your microblading education.
